Stars Grill Room

Stars Grill Room is in Charleston’s iconic downtown dining and entertainment district. Housed in a restored historic Arts and Crafts building, Stars serves signature Carolina Cuisine in a 1930s-style Grill Room.

After working with the restaurant group in rebranding their rooftop bar, Satellite Bar, we decided that a visual identity refresh of the downstairs restaurant would help to create a more cohesive look between the two. We took inspiration from the Arts & Crafts movement, along with the restaurant's interiors — which can be first seen in the warm and rich color palette. The custom wordmark is a refined version of old signage that you might see back in the 1930’s, meant to emulate the Arts & Crafts movement with a curved crossbar, pointed and flared serifs, and a heavier weight. The Brand Mark takes inspiration from the many glass chandeliers that feature an 8-pointed star.
